With the possibility of rain looming, about twenty of the HPD Futsal Kids came out to play Futsal today and had a great time playing on the mini soccer courts. Good sportsmanship was the order of the day.
Only a few of the older kids showed up to play some HPD Futsal today. We are hoping to get more of the younger kids to come & play for a couple of hours after school. It's fun, exciting and there is always a HPD presence at the courts.
The older kids came out today to have some fun & show off their Futsal skills. This program is open to all kids of Hawthorne and teaches good sportsmanship along with soccer skills. We play every Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Games are played at Hawthorne Memorial Park and on the third Wednesday of each month at Jim Thorpe Park. The Hawthorne Police Department is ALWAYS present to run the games & talk with the kids & parents about good sportsmanship, and staying and maintaining good grades in school. Come out & join us and see for yourselves how this amazing program works. AT times we even have "special guests" from our own LA Galaxy. Join in and have some FUN!
The first hockey practice of the season for the HPD Power Project Girls team took place today at the Skating Edge Ice Arena. A great big "THANK YOU" to the LA Kings Hockey Development Team for their help today.
About 35 riders rode into Hawthorne this morning to participate in the HPD's Ride to Live motorcycle training class. By 4PM they all rode off with their complteion certificates and a new outlook on motorcycle riding safety. Also a bif THANK YOU to the motor officers from the surrounding South Bay Cities who also came to help run the class.
